The excavators were hard at work on September 24, 2010 digging the foundation holes for the first 6 homes on Community Lane, Coatesville. Once this work is complete, the concrete foundations will be poured and first floor decks installed, making way for our volunteers to begin framing.
These are the first 6 of an eventual 45 affordable homes on the Cambria Terrace site. HfHCC acquired the property in partnership with the Pennsylvania Department of Community Economic Development and the Chester County Department of Community Development.
To see this neighborhood now, it’s hard to believe that this area was once dominated by the dilapidated Oak Street public housing mega-project. Twenty-two Habitat for Humanity homeowner families already reside here, thanks to donor dollars and the efforts of our volunteers.
We are seeking house sponsorship funds to enable our volunteers to complete six or seven houses each year, so every dollar counts. In order to meet this current challenge, we need the support of the many active church, social, and business organizations in the area. To learn more about ways that you can make a difference, please contact Jason Pyrah at 610-384-7993, x12 or Jason@hfhcc.org.
For those interested in volunteering, please contact Eliza Bernardini at (610) 384-7993, ext. 17 or Eliza@hfhcc.org. Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age to work on the construction site.
Those interested in learning more about becoming a Habitat homeowner, please contact Bobette Meeter at (610) 384-7993, ext. 14 or Bobette@hfhcc.org. Families selected for these particular homes must have an income ranging from $23,000 to $62,000.
