Habitat for Humanity of Chester County is excited to share the latest updates on our Cambria Terrace homes in Coatesville, PA. As these homes are finalized, Habitat for Humanity of Chester County and the Coatesville community will celebrate this milestone with a dedication in early Fall 2024. This accomplishment is made possible by the support and hard work of HfHCC’s donors, volunteers, and staff!
With the Cambria Terrace homes nearing completion, four homeowners were able to close on April 22nd and April 24th! Nigina Souell, John and Monte Woodward, the Wah family, and the Kebeh Gleh family were thrilled to take this next step in homeownership with HfHCC.
“If you look at what the Oak Street Projects were and what Cambria is now, it has completely changed the landscape of that area and engaged the community in the affordable housing process,” said Christy Kane, Director of Development and Marketing at Habitat for Humanity of Chester County.
The Cambria Terrace project has been a resounding success, thanks in no small part to the incredible partnerships forged with local government, corporations, churches, and foundations. HfHCC would also like to recognize the County of Chester for their instrumental role in securing the property and providing additional funding for infrastructure improvements. Through these partnerships, we've been able to access affordable materials and engage enthusiastic volunteers through team builds, ultimately resulting in affordable and energy-efficient homes.
“We have really good relationships with different vendors, and we’re always looking for companies and organizations to partner with to help us bring affordable housing to communities in Chester County,” said Kane. “And affordability extends beyond materials used to build. We also ensure the materials are energy efficient because we want to build quality and cost-efficient homes.”
HfHCC would also like to highlight our long-time volunteer and board member, Chris Pippett, who celebrated his 100th settlement with the completion of Cambria Terrace’s fourth home! Chris is the co-chair of the Financial Services Industry Practice at Fox Rothschild and has been a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity for 22 years, including 12 years on the organization’s board of directors. He was a board member from 2004 to 2010, serving as board president in his final two years.
In honor of Pippett’s milestone 100th home settlement, Habitat for Humanity surprised him with a celebration alongside his family, friends, and colleagues at Fox Rothschild’s Exton office.
“Chris has been a dedicated leader for Habitat for over 20 years. He has helped countless families, not only through these settlements, but as a driving force behind the growth of our program as a whole,” said Chris Wiseman, Executive Director. “He not only has the wisdom, but the heart and vision to lead us all to be better and serve our community. It was a pleasure to celebrate this momentous occasion with Chris, his family, and the Fox Rothschild team.”
HfHCC is also looking towards future endeavors in Caln, PA, where two lots have been purchased on Foundry Street.
“Our next phase in the Coatesville area is located in neighboring Caln, where volunteers will build as many as 40 homes on those multi-acre lots over the next few years,” said Kane.
As we aim to transform lives and communities, one home at a time, the Cambria Homes development is a beacon of hope, illustrating what can be achieved when communities come together with a shared vision of creating a better future! By supporting affordable housing initiatives, you have the opportunity to make a profound difference in the lives of countless individuals and families who are trying to achieve their homeownership dreams.
